We at Liberty Run Goldens do not inbreed or line-breed our dogs. Those techniques may produce a pretty dog, but we feel they weaken dogs mentally. And we believe those breeding techniques have led to all the health problems associated with Goldens, today. It is our breeding objective to produce intelligent, calm, and healthy Golden Retrievers – ones that are easy for you to train, great to have as companions, and healthy.
I strive to produce golden retrievers that are not only beautiful and healthy, but who are very smart and retain the drive to retrieve. I am trying to breed goldens that have the potential to compete in the breed ring, the obedience and agility rings, at tracking tests and hunt tests. At the same time I anticipate that a large percentage of our puppies will become loved family members and function as a companion animal and thus try to breed dogs with temperaments that shine as family pets.
I am very proud of my dogs and my standing in the “Golden Community”. A good temperament is critical and my dogs absolutely MUST be able to run together and interact without scuffles. In my breeding program there is no room for a dog with a nasty temperament or a dog that is terribly shy and what I describe as “spooky” (unstable).It is very important to me to maintain the multi-purpose function of the golden retriever. They must have brains “AND” beauty. Soundness and Quality go hand in hand at Delmarva Golden Retrievers.
Our dogs descend from different parts of Europe with a focus on Health, Champion Pedigrees, Great dispositions , Longevity of lives, Conformation to breed standard and overall quality. Our puppies are the result of careful and selective breeding. Providing beautiful puppies with stunning conformation and wonderful temperaments is that for which we strive. While placing puppies into loving homes is first and foremost; maintaining and achieving a quality of excellence is our ultimate goal.
Raising dogs came natural to us, as we combined our increasing knowledge of Goldens with our background in showing and breeding horses. We bred our first litter, had our first Bred-By Exhibitor Champion, and established the roots of what would become a breeding program based on versatility, intelligence, conformation, temperament, and the best overall health practices, so others could one day enjoy the same success.We are very proud not only of the diversity represented by these Charms Goldens, but especially of the happiness they have brought to their owners, our extended Charms family.
